“Construction Site Toys” II

The fresh greens are growing fast and the season is moving on to summer in Kyoto. The weather is not steady during this season. Sunny and hot but then it rains so it gets a little chilly.

Did you know that we have a selection of nostalgic toys and daily commodities displayed throughout the museum? The exhibition is replaced regularly, and this time the theme is“Construction Site Toys”. We collected heavy machinery toys which work on construction worksites.

To share the atmosphere of those worksites we selected bigger size toys.

Also the creative team at the museum made special sets of construction sites by using stones and reproducing the look of concrete and rusty ground and pipes. There are various situations to suit each set of toys.

For example,

Such a vacant lot can be…

Now you can see it as a worksite! I was excited to see them finally together with toys as I saw the staff decorating the stones. Such small acrylic cases but they look so real, like a new world has been created inside.

In this exhibition the toy boxes are also displayed. The illustrations and designs are very nostalgic but also pretty. These toys actually have been re-imported. I personally was attracted by these designs as retro fonts are popular over here in Japan.

For younger generation these toys look fresh as well as for some generations these would appear reminiscent. Why don’t you come and check the nostalgic displays at the Kyoto International Manga Museum which also is one of historical former elementary school building?
