We have hand molds of the artists who visited the museum for giving lectures and events on the second floor in the exclusive director's room which you can see from outside the window.
Miyazaki Hayao, Yanase Takashi, Taniguchi Jiro, Miyamoto Shigeru, Moebius and more artists have done molding like this in the photo.
Some manga-ka visit the museum in their private time too. Mizuchi Seri visited us recently and she brought us her manga.

There are many manga-ka living in Kyoto apart from her too.
An advertisement on a newspaper which had portraits of Arashi (the Japanese pop idol group) drawn by a famous manga-ka became popular recently. Asahi Newspaper published this and also had a special article about the manga industries of Japan and overseas.
Nowadays France and the U.S. have more titles on sale but the profits they make are decreasing. Japanese manga entering into their markets must have been a big change for them.
According to the article, the Japanese manga industry grew with its audience by creating something that was demanded from the audience for the time.
Japanese manga was exported because it was popular and of high quality. Overseas audience expect work of a high quality and Japanese manga meets this demand. This also encourages competition giving better quality of work overall in those countries.
