≪Kyoto MaGiC news≫ No.5 "Takahashi Macoto×verona 2"

The exhibition and fashion show are coming up soon. Takahashi Macoto sensei and his manager came down to Kyoto
for checking the process of the dress.

We met at the shop "verona" which is only 10min walk from Manga museum.

The ground floor of the building is a shop "Cocochimio" which is co-operated by verona. Very cozy looking.

Flowers are everywhere inside shop. Material for bouquet and accessories are in the shop. I am sure I can stay here much longer.

The upstairs of this shop is verona's studio. They have a lot of dresses and Japanese clothing.

You can of course order your own dress but also rent one. It would be very hard to choose because they have so many.

So dress was ready for basting stitch. It's exciting to see it for the first time. The process of making dress starts with deciding a pattern for a dress with cotton. Then you
do basting stitch to be able to make the shape fits to the model. Verona's designer Arai san quickly putting marking pins.

Suddenly Arai san started cutting the fabric..

So what's happening ?
Takahashi sensei is wondering...

Then...

She was making rose ! so quick!

Arai san said "I think these should go with ribbon on the back of dress like this". Obviously there is no illustration for the back of dress so this needs to be done with just imagination.

However her ideas keep overflowing! Takahashi sensei was surprised with her various ideas.

The lacework around neck is going be dyed to unbleached color.

She also showed us embroidered design.
For the skirt the design has Kyoto taste that Takahashi sensei mentioned in the last meeting. You probably wouldn't be able to see them but beads are sewed together. Such a fine work!

This is a photo of veil.
The flowers are decollated partly here but it's going to cover whole head.
Details of the veil are re-produced nicely too.

How quick the process was made me think Arai san has god hand. It was such a "MaGiC" experience for me. Takahashi sensei was excited too.

The actual dress will be made with softer and shinier fabric so you can enjoy the silhouette and details. I enjoyed a lot to see the process.

Now you can take Kyoto MaGiC's flyer too. It looks like postcards but has pictures on both sides.

It has information inside.

You should be able to get them in the museums and bookshops apart from manga museum.

Please take one if you find it.
