Getting ready for spring

On February 18 when the Museum's playground was covered with snow, we were setting up the Japanese-style "tatami" room for the traditional spring event.

What event?
It's the Doll's Festival ("Hina-matsuri" in Japanese)!!

It's also known as the Girls' Day and celebrated on March 3rd to pray for young girls' growth and happiness. To celebrate this event, we display the traditional dolls "Hina-ningyo" every year.

The dolls, decorations and small parts were so delicate that we have to be extra careful when we take them out from the boxes… Pheeew, feeling tense!

After one hour with juggling and struggling, we finally made it!

We are still having the winter cold outside but it looks like spring have just arrived in the room, doesn't it?

When you visit our museum, please make sure you see the "Hina-matsuri" exhibition in the Japanese-style room on the 2nd floor!! We hope you enjoy our collection and exhibition of Manga and also, this small, but important aspect of Japanese tradition here in our museum!
